Volume of oils and fuel liquids Skoda Rapid. Volume of oils and fuel fluids Skoda Rapid Dimensions of the updated Skoda RAPID

It will be very useful for Skoda Rapid car owners to know the volume of the fuel tank. Firstly, they won’t be able to deceive you at gas stations (this happens when they fill in more gasoline than the tank itself can hold), and secondly, knowing the average fuel consumption and the capacity of the gas tank, you can easily calculate the mileage of the trip without refueling.

The capacities of fuel tanks in cars differ depending on the class of the car, the design and type of body, as well as the consumption of gasoline or diesel fuel per 100 kilometers. The most common containers in B-class cars are from 45 to 65 liters.

The volume of the Skoda Rapid fuel tank, regardless of the engine and configuration, is 55 liters. This figure is indicated in the technical specifications of the car.

How much gasoline can you put in a Skoda Rapid?

It is worth saying that it is not always possible to fill the car tank with as much fuel as indicated in the technical specifications. In fact, almost all cars do not provide fuel for filling under the filler neck. The manufacturer leaves a reserve stock of 5-10 liters.

  • Previously we wrote about models: height and width.

Even when the on-board computer tells you that the power reserve is zero, this does not always mean that the tank is completely empty. You still have the minimum that will allow you to travel the cherished 20-40 kilometers to the gas station. So, if the instruction manual states that the fuel tank of the Skoda Rapid is 55 liters, in fact, its capacity is 5-10 liters more.

Don’t rush to blame the gas station for filling you with several liters more than indicated in the specifications. Perhaps the only thing is that your car's tank was completely empty.

The Skoda RAPID FL liftback of the 2018-2019 model year is a compact and roomy car that behaves confidently both on city roads and on highways. The Skoda Rapid is an economical car that can cover long distances on a single fill-up. Despite this, the car is quite dynamic, so there are no problems with driving in dense city traffic or on the highway.

For reliable and long-term operation of the power plant and related systems, the vehicle should be fueled only with recommended fuel. Otherwise, problems may appear even after the first visit to the gas station.

An increase in fuel consumption is usually a consequence of improper maintenance or failure of a component. An increase in gasoline consumption is an important signal that your car needs attention. Otherwise, excessive wear of parts is possible, which will subsequently result in a major overhaul.

Fuel consumption of Skoda Rapid with different engine sizes

The fuel consumption of the Skoda Rapid depends on the size of the power plant and the type of transmission the car has. Fuel consumption per 100 km is discussed in more detail in the table below.

Gasoline selection

The vehicle may only be filled with unleaded gasoline that complies with the EN 228 standard. It is recommended to use fuel with a research octane rating of 95. It is allowed to refuel the car with gasoline with an octane rating of 92 or 98. When refueling with fuel with an octane rating of 92, the car's dynamics may deteriorate, as well as a slight increase in fuel consumption.

Table - Effect of octane number on driving a Skoda Rapid

Octane numberDescription
AI-92Despite the manufacturer's stated reduction in the unit's power when using gasoline with an octane rating of 92, it is not possible to really detect the "loss of horses." A lack of power can only be observed when the car is fully loaded.
AI-95The best choice. There is no detonation, acceleration is dynamic.
AI-98The engine runs smoother, but only if the fuel is of high quality. Car owners note that among gasoline with an octane number of 98 there is a lot of counterfeit. Low-quality additives that increase engine ratings cause clogging of the injector nozzle and lead to the need to repair the engine and related systems.

The manufacturer allows refueling in emergency situations with fuel with an octane number below 91. In this case, it is necessary to continue driving at low speeds, without picking up high speed. Increased crankshaft speed will cause severe detonation, which can damage the engine. At the first opportunity, you need to refuel with gasoline with an OC of 92-98, after draining the low-octane fuel from the gas tank.

Fuel tank volume

The volume of the fuel tank that is installed on the Skoda Rapid allows you to cover from 700 to 1100 km without refilling.

Table - Skoda Rapid gas tank volume

Despite the large volume of the gas tank, car owners do not recommend using up all the fuel. You should refuel when there is about 20% of the total gasoline left in the tank. This is due to the fact that there is a risk of contamination of the filter with foreign particles from the bottom of the gas tank.

Description of the reasons for high fuel consumption on the Skoda Rapid and their solutions

A common reason for increased fuel consumption is a decrease in tire pressure below nominal. This results in increased rolling resistance. To eliminate problems with increased fuel consumption, it is necessary to pump up the wheels, after checking the pressure using a pressure gauge.

Trying to create a sporty look for a car, car owners install an aerodynamic body kit. Incorrect installation or purchasing low-quality stock parts leads to increased resistance to oncoming air flows. To eliminate problems with increased fuel consumption, in this case, it is necessary to dismantle the newly installed elements of the aerodynamic body kit.

Effect of maintenance on fuel consumption

Untimely maintenance or the use of low-quality consumables can cause an increase in gasoline consumption. The greatest influence on consumption is:

  • air filter;
  • spark plug;
  • oil filter and oil.

If the air filter replacement interval is violated, it becomes clogged. This leads to disruption of the formation of the air-fuel mixture.

Worn-out spark plugs cause misfires in the fuel-air mixture. As a result, the power plant begins to burn out, and the unburned fuel is burned out in the converter, causing its rapid failure. Some of the fuel gets into the oil, diluting it. This causes accelerated wear of the power plant.

Negligence in changing engine oil and filter leads to insufficient lubrication of friction units. This causes increased loads in the power plant. As a result, fuel consumption increases and major repairs are approaching.

To solve problems arising due to improper maintenance, it is necessary to replace consumables with new ones recommended by the manufacturer. Subsequent maintenance must be carried out promptly.

The compact liftback Skoda Rapid is based on a redesigned platform from. The Czech model, compared to its German counterpart, has a longer wheelbase of 2602 mm (Polo has 2553 mm). Accordingly, the Rapid also has superiority in overall body length - 4483 mm versus 4390 mm. The car's suspension is composed of front MacPherson struts and a rear semi-independent torsion beam. The package for bad roads allowed to increase the ground clearance of the model to 170 mm.

The power plants available to the Skoda Rapid almost repeat the engine range of the same Polo, with a few exceptions. Moreover, since the start of sales, the line has been revised. The car entered the Russian market in 2014 with the following engines:

  • 1.2 MPI 75 hp, 112 Nm. The initial unit with a small displacement, three cylinders and distributed fuel injection.
  • 1.6 MPI 105 hp, 153 Nm. Atmospheric engine with distributed injection.
  • 1.4 TSI 122 hp, 200 Nm. The most powerful engine available to Rapid is equipped with a cast-iron cylinder block, a compressor with a boost pressure of 1.8 bar and a variable timing system on the intake valves.

In 2015, production of modernized 1.6-liter naturally aspirated engines of the EA211 family began in Kaluga. The cylinder head, block itself, pistons, connecting rods, exhaust valves, oil and water pumps were redesigned. Updated engines with 90 and 110 hp. added to the Skoda Rapid engine line, and the “junior” 1.2 MPI, on the contrary, was excluded. Plus, the output of the turbocharged 1.4 TSI has been increased from 122 to 125 hp.

Today, the Skoda liftback can be purchased in the following configurations:

  • 1.6 MPI 90 hp, 155 Nm with 5-speed manual transmission;
  • 1.6 MPI 110 hp, 155 Nm with 5-speed manual or 6-speed automatic;
  • 1.4 TSI 125 hp, 200 Nm with 7DSG robotic transmission.

The new 1.6-liter units are characterized by good efficiency, consuming about 5.8-6.1 liters per 100 km. The fuel consumption of the Skoda Rapid with the 1.4 TSI and the DSG robot is even less - about 5.3 liters.
